On Sunday 23 March we saw the return of the Rocks to Rocks and Jessica Barnes Memorial swim at Australia's most beautiful beach!
36 swimmers from Avoca Beach and North Avoca took on the 1.5km big swim.
It was thrilling to watch Levi Sinclaire (one of our strong U14s competitors) cross the line first with a time of 21:07. Julia Hall was our female champion with a cracking time of 23:13.
Winners aside, it was fantastic to see broad participation from patrolling members, Opens and Masters competitors to nipper parents and an impressive number of 60+ swimmers getting out there. The average time was 31:35. And kudos to those who brought flippers... whatever keeps us all in the water works. Let's aim to double the amount of participants next year!
31 nippers pushed themselves with a 600m swim that was expertly started by Kennedy Barnes. Beautiful performances by these season-fit kids who love any opportunity to get in the ocean to swim with their mates. Matilda Harvey crossed the line first with a smile to be the Jess Barnes Swim champ. Congrats to the age champions and all swimmers.
U13 champions - Matilda Harvey, Ziggy Walkaden

Big thanks to Sarah Winter, the volunteers and water safety who helped make the swim happen. See you next year!
